Learning a new euphemism

It isn't a tooth extraction, it's a "root retrieval." That's what we learned at the oral surgeon's joint. Somehow it made us chuckle, and brightened up what could have been a dismal experience. Our dear nonegenarian must face it, however, eventually, whatever one calls it.

One of my brothers has recently faced about 3 of them...not so bad, he says.

As for Leonard Cohen, we paid $98 each for tickets, more than I ever dreamed I'd pay and far more than I thought any performer was worth. But I would do it again. I've never experienced any performance like his and I felt like it was my last chance to hear him. I'd almost be willing to front you the money if you'd go see him! Of course, I've been a fan since the early 70s.

I remember first hearing of him as a freshman in college, listening to him in the dorm room of one of my oh-so-sophisticated floormates who were from back East.
I guess one could think of the ticket costs as contributing to his retirement...

Well, his accountant did fleece him, which is (as I understand it) his reaon for this latest tour. In my view, he's the most gifted songwriter I've ever heard; I usually don't do such effusive babbling, but I make an exception for him.
