Drizzle, drizzle, groan and grizzle

Oh...the misery of this day. Not a good night's sleep, and stuck inside due to 40-ish degree temperatures and relentless rain. I finally dragooned my dear sweet old mum into suiting up and walking a few blocks - maybe I should get her a waterproof windsurfing suit, eh? Our friends the chickens looked suitabley disconsolate in their coop, supping bits of rainwater that trickled down the chickenwire.
And I at last, after vacuuming corners and cracks and nooks and such, put on layers and went out into the deluge to run to the workout joint. Had the lake path mostly to myself, except for some ducks and coots rooting about. Threw myself into the weight machines, eavesdropped on several men kibbutzing about politics and women, then ran up the hill to home, feeling purged and energized.
Early to bed with the Elizabeth Bowen short stories.

Hmmm, a wet suit for your mom. That would be an interesting sight for the neighbors.

I did actually get out today - last day of the year - early AM. Water was boiling with froth and the winds were howling. Gusts over 80 MPH in one part of the bay, but substantially lower where we were windsurfing. Intermittent rains and downpours. But the best part was watching my buddy sail through the end of a rainbow. Wow!

Happy New Year Isa. Blog on Sister, blog on.

Heh... yeah, that would be something, an 88 year old in a wet suit. Kind of like that nude pic of an 80 year old Tony Curtis that Neil Shakespeare had up. Although, there is an 86 year old mountain climber around here, and he's not in bad shape at all for a very old dude.
Wow, what a swell image to comtemplate, sailing through the end of a rainbow...
I have been AWOL from climbing for more than a week. I feel like a lardball, despite runing and weight machine workouts and walks.
Gotta get in some semblance of shape to go to Joshua Tree to meet up with our kid.
And a really swell New Year to you too, 'spike!
