Snorkeling along

Ah, we are washed by the refreshing waters of recycled melting ice caps again, for days on end. People are already succumbing to the despair of an atmosphere resembling the surface of Venus as depicted in that old science fiction movie, "The Illustrated Man,"wherein a character played by Rod Steiger goes mad when he goes out into the endless rain, suffering its percussive pounding on his skull. Surviving this temporary situation here depends on seizing any break in the weather you can, and getting outside; or if there are no breaks, getting out anyway. Or go inside for whatever aerobic activity flutters your heart.
The stories of Edith Wharton are dwindling. Next selection, via the book group's list, is Camus' "The Stranger." Sheesh. Even naming that title is polluted with political residue.

Is that the book bush claimed to have read? As if he's ever read a real book in his life.

I have so many politcal books to read that I wonder if I shall ever get through all of them. As of now I am still reading State of Denial. Thank goodness I can pick it up whenever and not have lost the track of the story. Seems there just isn't enough time to do what I want to and also do what I need to.

Yep, pop, it is. What an evil, stupid maroon that W. is.
I have not read any books lately that claim to be political, but danged if the very best literature doesn't address that arena anyway.

Naw, 'spike, I still think his stupid ass wife reads him to sleep. It takes about two minutes.

Bush doesn't exactly read. He looks at the pretty pictures, and makes up stories about what he sees. He checks The Google, you know. Whattaguy.

Western Washington has gotten more rain in the first six days of November than it typically gets for the whole frickin' month. It's not so bad here. We actually had about an hour sunny-ishness on Monday to go into the garden and clean it up a bit. Sorry to hear about the deluge over there on the other side of the sound.

dick, I have an English translation of The Stranger. I read it years ago, too, also in English. It'll be interesting to see how I react to it these days.

heh, Robin, so true of W. good metaphor for his banality.
