Lawn hacking

Ah, the first mow of the year; of course it should have been done last weekend, but who wants to toil away when it's 78 degrees and fabulous walking weather? It's more important to take care of the old bodily temple. So it looked like an explosion in a healthfood store, like the blender top flew off during the production of wheatgrass; smelled like it also. Our friend the gardener gave me a pep talk, pointed out the relative short window of time we had in the weather, and the two of us made more progress on our unruly property.
After it got chilly again in the evening, what better to do than get a bite of sushi? (You can actually get warm food in a sushi joint). A couple of our son's good friends were there, so we had a jolly little reunion.

Oof. That smell. When we got the new lawn in, it had to go unmowed for a couple of weeks. So it got long and green. The gardener mowed it on a Thursday and put the clippings in the green can. By the time we took the green can to the curb on Sunday evening, peeee-yeeeew.

Did you find that newly-mowed lawn under some snow Saturday morning? Our daffodils were bent to the ground under a hood of white.

Too cold for the grass to smell...

Yeah, and more snow came down as I drove somewhere...
