To market, etc.
Look for interesting vegetables, I was told; nothing really leapt out at me at the farmers' market today, except some organic cauliflower and some irresistible big tomatoes. Carrots were appealing, and more dried cannelini beans. Corn on the cob was priced at 75 cents an ear; we used to think that was a good price for a dozen back in Ohio, in those yoren days of olde. The day cleared off, leaving a sweet evening.

I got some just gorgeous golden-colored cauliflower this week. I didn't notice much difference in the taste from the white, but it looked awfully pretty roasted up.
And I got corn today at the supermarket (not organic). Sweet white for 50 cents an ear. Not a bad price for these days, but indeed, not as good as yoren...
I think we got three ears for $2.00 at the farmers market last saturday. It was pretty tasty, but not as sweet as homegrown. I like that golden cauliflower. It's so pretty. I haven't tried the purple though. For some reason purple cauliflower just looks wrong.
I couldn't even bring myself to go to the farmer's market today. It's hot.
But down at the corner stop & shop, there's a stand with fresh tomatoes on a honor pay system. I may venture down there tomorrow and check out the wares.
That'll give me something to blog about!
