Rounds
Of errands, but there was a pleasant portion of the afternoon. A friend who recently had knee surgery was home, recuperating in the company of a puppy they just got last week. It was one of nine from a litter spawned via an illicit tryst between a German shorthaired pointer mother and a yellow lab father. I took my friend some fresh fruit and a get well card, and we played with the pup. Or rather, the dog got increasingly feisty and peppy, and we worked on training her not to bite. Damned cute critter, mostly black with some white spotted places; she will grow to be about 40-60 pounds, said my friend. Hearing about the puppy not quite sleeping through the night made me glad there isn't one of these creatures in our house. Too much like custodial grandparenting.

That pup sounds like a delightful little creature. Are you sure you don't want one to pal around with? Yellow labs are the sweetest, most mellow dogs around.
Yellow labs may be sweet-natured, but remember, she's half her mother, the pointer. So she was very sweet at first, but after a bit my friend commented that she was feistier than she'd ever seen her before. Still danged cute.
Nope, no doggies. Too much time involved, too much training. We've already been through a human offspring...
