Crazy

Very spicy foods at late-ish dinners may cause bizarre dreams. Came home to find an e-mail from my friend with the puppy relating that her parents had driven down from their condo some miles north of here to see her and the new puppy. They'd had a nice visit, then her dad, who'd been becoming an increasingly problematic driver due to age and brain issues, drove back up to their condo, went in the house, and dropped dead. So fortunate it didn't happen in the car, and perhaps a good thing for her mother, who was facing some hard decisions. I'm so glad she saw him one last time.
So many different stories about the ends of our parents' lives, and no way to know how to plan...

That's a very sad story. It is good that your friend got to see her dad before he died, but wow, what a sudden way to depart. Sometimes getting a puppy is a good thing for reasons we can't even begin to imagine.

Oh, and I meant to say-- walking in the house and just dropping dead like that, we should all be so lucky.

Well...his sudden demise certainly circumvented a lot of difficult scenarios. I still think going in one's sleep might be the least problematic.
But the more I hear of people dying these days, the less I want to face it.
