Hail the first day of spring!
As in actual hail, pelting me while I ran, and not meant as a salutation to the lovely season; well, the sun was out every so often, so at least my sunglasses kept most of the ice pellets out of my eyes.
Worse and worse; needed to make a store run, decided to walk, and it was about the gloomiest night time exercise ever, along the lake in half opaque downpour. Only the maple butter snug in my backpack on the return gave me any joy.

Damn. I would have broken the maple butter out on the walk home.
We had a pretty big thunderstorm last night, around 2 am. Woke me right up, and it felt like the lightning must be landing right in my backyard -- BOOOOOM!
I used to love rain when I ws younger, then when I had toddlers running about, rain = no outside playing, and I didn't like it so much. Now that my toddlers are pre-teens, I can enjoy it again.
As to your hail and my thunder, I think Mother Nature is pissed about something.
I've heard of maple butter, but never seen it. How's it taste?
I forgot it was the first day of spring; damn work. ...thanks for the reminder
