Off to see the wizard

For hair transformation; mood alteration; man, this day was gloomy.
Missed a call from our kid, whose message informed me they are in Zion National Park, with some allusion to the wonderful state of Utah.
He called back later; they've been in Zion for two days, with great weather, in the 70's F; wonderful climbing, multi-pitched, challenging splitter cracks, and free camping. Have to get a vicarious thrill from this.

I've just recently discovered the wizardess of hair transformation, and I love her!

The climbing trip sounds great (well, the weather and surroundings do. The climbing, not so much...)

Have you ever been to Zion? We went years ago, with my sister and her first husband, I think it was 1978. We were there in early October, gorgeous during the day, cold at night. Took a stiff hike up a big pile of rock called Angel's Landing. The young climbers down there this week are going up the steep sandstone cliffs you see in photos.
They've done some trail work over the decades, and during the tourist season, you can't drive into the park, you park and take shuttle buses. So most people don't get off their lazy bums and see much, and it cuts down on pollution and crowds. You can walk around at the bottom and look up at the rock, too. It's a wonderful place.

I have never been to Zion, but I'll get there one of these days.

No camping will be involved, however.

I've never been to Zion, but I've driven through Utah and hiked around some of that amazing terrain. Spectacular scenery.

I think the weather has finally done me in. I started looking at real estate in northern California last night. This has got to be the longest stretch of sunless days I've ever seen.

Zion is still on my list of places to visit where I have not yet been. I have been to Arches Nat'l Park, however. And that place is stunning. Still, it's hard to compete with Grand Teton Nat'l Park - still my fav after all these years...but oh, so many other parks to visit.

What's your fav so far Isa? other bloggers?

'spike, I feel as if I at least was able to sample the Grand Tetons, literally from top to bottom; the bad parts about it were the congested parking lots full of people wallowing around looking for fried food. Once out on a trail, of course, the numbers dropped sharply.
Looking at kvaatch's "Sunday Sierra Blogging" photos makes me really want to go back into places where people aren't ruining everything, but time's getting short for being able to do that thses days.

Robin, this really has been an awful winter. Hang in, when global warming really kicks in, we'll be in clover up here!
